We would first like to apologize for the delay of our newsletter, we have been very busy and have had major decisions come up that required much prayer and time to resolve. More importantly we would like to thank you for taking the time to read over our Newsletter, praying with us and supporting our ministry as we share the gospel here in the United States as we travel on full-time deputation and to the Philippines.
Our spring came to an end with attending a mission’s conferences and visiting churches. Our trips were getting more difficult to do in the car on limited time off from Dan’s job. We get very excited about the much needed support coming in from churches and others that currently support us, but it is a joy when we hear that another person, family or church has decided to take us on for support and we get a new total of our support. Thank you Lord and all how participate in giving. We celebrated our 24th Anniversary in June and our son Logan turned 17.
Our summer began with an incredible twist. Praise the Lord for his goodness! Connie enjoyed teaching an ESL (English as a Second Language) class at our sending church, Bible Way Baptist. She had a large class of children as well as adults who faithfully attend and enjoyed learning.
Dan had been trying to quit his job since January, in order for us to go on fulltime deputation, and then the company was going to transfer him, but when it was all finalized the offer was very insufficient for the amount of time it would take away from our ministry. Dan turned it down knowing that we couldn’t get to the Philippines through that route. We continued on deputation by traveling in the car doing short trips to present our ministry and privileged to supply pulpit fill for our dear friends Pastor & Mrs. Morales and the congregation of First Baptist Church.
Also in July, we began to search for an RV, in a certain price range. As you all know we had been praying for a long time about the best way to transition out of our apartment and how to travel. After searching and viewing many RV’s we found one with everything we wanted inside, motor and in our price range. We are now on full-time deputation and living in out RV. We have put on over 3000 on the RV since August 4th and are looking forward to what God is doing every day.
When we went to look at it the man told us that he had been holding it for weeks, but the deal fell through. Praise God that he put it on when he did, because weeks earlier we could not have purchased it. We had a plan and God worked out all the details to sell our things and move our plan smoothly along. We couldn’t have moved out of our apartment and into our RV without the Lord, many folks praying and us believing. Moving is hard work, let alone moving into a smaller space. With some heavy lifting, deep cleaning, much needed repairs, and organization we have moved OUT of our apartment and INTO our Motor-home. Our fall began as we headed south again in Aug- Oct, back to Virginia, South Carolina and North Carolina and was blessed attending churches, missions conferences, youth camps, revivals, camp meetings, youth nights, catfish fry and church services.
We were very blessed to be able to spend some time with our good friends the Mattson’s and be a help and blessing to them; which is what we had intended for this visit. Good Friends and good times! We have become quite fond of this couple and are happy to be fellow laborers of the Lord with them.
We had great driving weather, little rain showers; though areas all around us had terrible storms and flooding; we rode out a tropical storm in the motorhome, God kept us safe.
It is always encouraging to witness God’s people giving from the heart and desiring to help us on our deputation trail and take us on for support. We stopped in at an evening church service, just to hear the message from one of our many favorite pastors we enjoy listening to and wow what a shock! The preaching was great, Dan got to speak about our ministry; even better was that the pastor and congregation voted on the spot to take us on for support. We had two churches take us on for support in one week! Wow, we are blessed! Some churches are still deciding and churches that haven’t been able to take us on for support have blessed us with gracious love offerings and/or supplied other needs (food, gas, plumbing supplies for the RV, special gifts just for the kids, etc). The children are enjoying singing, sharing their talents and we’ve tried some songs as a family.
We have been having wonderful experiences with the church families and getting to know pastors and their families on a close friendship level. A big part of our ministry is being a blessing, encouraging fellow believers, witnessing and seeing souls saved. We never turn down an opportunity to go door knocking or street preaching, enjoying a catfish fry, meeting some longhorns and ranch life.
It’s always a blessing to visit a new church, but being able to revisit a church has a sweetness of familiarity and is comforting like close family; we have been experiencing both. Praise God, the Lord!
Thank you for your prayers and support; we appreciate you all.
